Philadelphia Airport

If you are traveling to Philadelphia through Philadelphia airport, here are a few things to know.

  1. The airport baggage claim a little further out from normal airports.  You have to cross the lanes that feed departure area, the train tracks and get to the other side where you can catch ground transportation, or go across to the parking area.  So, unlike most airports where arrivals and departures are essential in the same building, be ready for a little bit of a walk to pick up your bags and find ground transportation.
  2. Rental cars are available right outside the airport, across the area where ground transportation and parking area is.  If you have Budget, Avis or Hertz, you may not even need to wait for the shuttle as you could literally walk across the parking lot into these car rental places.  Mind you - there is a road that needs to be crossed, and this can get tricky if you have bags or kids.  On the other hand, if you have Enterprise or National Car rental, they are not easily accessible by walking, so just wait for the shuttle.
  3. The best terminal is terminal C, new well lit terminal of American Airlines.  The lobby connecting Terminal B and C is populated with several stores and a large food court - called Philadephila Market place - which makes it for a pleasurable walk.  There are places to sit and do some work if you like.
  4. Wifi:  Free Wifi available, courtesy ATT.
  5. TSA Precheck lane is in Terminal C.  If you are in Terminal B, you can walk within the terminal to get to C.  However, if you are in other terminals, you have to walk outside the buildings to go from one terminal to the next.  Once inside the secure area, all terminals are connected making it easy to go from one terminal to the next
  6. Minute Suite, the Priority Pass lounge is between Terminal A and B, and allows 1 hour free access using Chase Sapphire Reserve Card.  It accommodates up to 4 people and has pull out sofa and pillows for power nap.  Additional time costs $28 per hour.  Perfect for a quick conference call or rest.
  7. United Club lounge is between Terminal C and D.
  8. American has lounges in Terminals A, BC, and F
  9. Delta lounge is in Terminal D
